We just dropped Memory Rites, our new collaboration with bass music legend, EPROM. Memory Rites is our latest Current Expansion Player and preset pack, introducing a new format to explore the sounds of Current without needing the full synth.
For anyone new to his work, EPROM is one of electronic music’s most distinct artists. Based in Portland, Oregon, EPROM (born Alexander Dennis) has been at the forefront of the scene for almost 20 years.
In that time, he's redefined the presentation of live electronic music and bent maximalist rave archetypes into his own vision of experimental electronic music.
Having released on labels such as Deadbeats, 1985 Music, and Warp Records (among others), EPROM's pursuit of the intersection of raw emotional music with the complexity of machine-woven texture and compositional detail made him a natural fit for our first artist collaboration.
We're going to dive into some of his most notable releases and talk about the process that went into shaping Memory Rites.
EPROM's recent work
Syntheism
Released in 2023, Syntheism marks EPROM's first full-length album in over 10 years. Here EPROM imagines an alternate history where the Akkadian Empire became the dominant cultural force in the world. In that history, EPROM offers a techno-utopian vision of what corporate aesthetics could look like if they weren't tied to the capitalist landscape we live in today. The album represents a sonic journey moving past the confines of the dancefloor to ask prescient questions about our culture and where we need to move next as a society.
Break of Dawn
In his latest release, EPROM again teams with G JONES to transcend classic hard-house and club by shifting their warped (sometimes contrarian) production style into overdrive. Here you'll find orchestral hits melding with large-scale sound design in the flowing, effortless way that only seems possible when these two collaborate.
Collaborating on Memory Rites

In 2026, we've been focused on bringing artists to the forefront of our process. This made EPROM a natural choice for our first Current Expansion Player collaboration. His unrelenting vision of what electronic music can be, along with his natural inclination to push the envelope of sound design, created a synergistic environment to explore Current and showcase the synth at its fullest potential.
Inspiration behind the patches
Each preset in Memory Rites tells a story. We sat down with EPROM and chatted about the ideas that went into the creation of each patch, and how the sounds were formulated. Let's take a listen to a few demos from the pack.
“Untitled Emotional Keys” is a preset emulating the sound used in his track “Untitled Emotional Acid.”
While other presets, like “Exponent Advisor,” can be heard throughout Syntheism.
“Numbers Station” uses EPROM’s own voice and Current’s granular engine as the foundation to create the sound of a futuristic radio signal.
“Killa Bees” gives users a classic deep, raw EPROM bass sound powered by sawtooth waves and kinetic modulation.
Memory Rites features 60 of EPROM’s custom-designed Current presets distilled into a streamlined instrument, putting the expertise of one of electronic music’s most forward-thinking sound designers directly into your session.
For us, this release represents the next step in bringing artists deeper into the tools we make. Memory Rites opens a new way to experience Current’s sound, whether you’re exploring it through the standalone Current Expansion Player or expanding the full synth with EPROM’s presets.
