Emerge started with abandoned mills, junkyards, liquid recordings, modular systems, and anything else we could turn into sound.

Those recordings became the raw material for 750+ cinematic impacts, textures, atmospheres, and SFX, shaped through layering, processing, and experimental sound design.

Here’s a look behind the scenes at how we made it.

Abandoned Mill

Some of Emerge’s rawest textures started inside an abandoned mill.

Striking, scraping, and interacting with metal, concrete, and whatever else we could find. The natural reflections and decay of the space gave every recording a sense of scale that would be difficult to recreate artificially.

Those recordings became starting points for impacts, textures, atmospheres, and other cinematic sounds throughout the pack.

Liquid Recordings

For this session, we focused on the movement and detail of water, capturing splashes, pours, bubbles, and subtle liquid textures up close.

Once processed and layered, these smaller organic recordings became everything from detailed SFX to evolving textures and atmospheric elements.

Junkyard

A junkyard gave us an entirely different palette: heavy metal, broken machinery, car parts, and objects with unpredictable resonances.

We captured hits, scrapes, drops, and impacts across the space, then brought those recordings back into the studio to reshape them into cinematic material.

Modular

Field recordings were only part of the picture for Emerge. Back in the studio, processing sounds through various eurorack modules gave us a source for sounds that couldn’t exist in the physical world: evolving tones, unstable textures, deep low-end, and complex movement.

Blending these synthetic sources with our recorded material helped give Emerge its balance of organic detail and larger-than-life cinematic sound design.

Across these sessions, field recordings, physical objects, liquid textures, and modular synthesis were layered and reshaped into 750+ cinematic sounds built for impact, movement, and atmosphere.
